About B&C

About Us

Launched in September 1995, Books & Culture is a bimonthly review that engages the contemporary world from a Christian perspective. Every issue of Books & Culture contains in-depth reviews of books that merit critical attention, as well as shorter notices of significant new titles. While the magazine's center is Christian, we seek common ground with like-minded souls from other communities of faith.

Books & Culture is published six times a year by Christianity Today, 465 Gundersen Drive, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188.

Meet the Staff of Books & Culture

Here's a quick introduction to the Books & Culture staff.

David Neff is editor-in-chief of the Christianity Today Media Group and an editorial vice-president of Christianity Today. Before arriving at CT in 1985, David served as editor of HIS magazine, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's now defunct periodical for college and university students. He and his wife, LaVonne, a writer and editor, have two grown daughters and three grandchildren—and two dogs to ease the pain of Empty-Nest Syndrome. "My position at CT allows me to see and hear a lot of wonderful things that are happening in the name of religion," says David. "If you listen only to the general media, and feed on stereotypes, you would think religion is, in the main, damaging our society. From where I sit, I know better."

John Wilson is editor of Books & Culture and editor at large for Christianity Today magazine. He received a B.A. from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1970 and an M.A. from California State University, Los Angeles, in 1975. His reviews and essays appear in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, First Things, National Review, and other publications. He and his wife, Wendy, are members of Faith Evangelical Covenant Church in Wheaton; they have four children.
